The Friday Five.
whoop-dee-doo.

1. What were your favorite childhood stories?

Childhood stories... I'm not sure whether I really had many. I read all the "American Girl" history series that we had and I liked them alright. I used to read this story called "The Slime that ate Crestview". Actually I still go back and read it sometimes. When I was little, very little I loved this story called the "Lupine Lady" and Beatrix Potter. Um. Goodnight moon was read to me a lot but frankly that book is terribly frightening.

2. What books from your childhood would you like to share with [your] children?

Definately Beatrix Potter and maybe Goodnight moon as well because, you know, it's a classic. The Lupine Lady and the other books from that artist are awesome too.

3. Have you re-read any of those childhood stories and been surprised by anything?

Um. I just can see more depth I guess. I'm surprised that Goodnight moon still creeps me out.

4. How old were you when you first learned to read?

My dad says around two. I don't know if that's accurate or not.

5. Do you remember the first 'grown-up' book you read? How old were you?

I was in third grade I think. It was one of my father's science fiction books that he thought I would like. I did. I finished the whole series.

Eyes open- Dreams close. They dress- and leave themselves behind. Step out into the day- but try to escape the sun. Read books on being their own person- from inside one cubicle out of hundreds. Say ''I think''- yet spout only popular opinion. Take the same freeway witha thousand other cars- and call it a shortcut. Microwave dinner from a TV tray- in a dish it's a home cooked meal. They sit in bed and wonder why no one knows them for who they really are.
