William Gibson

He is soooo cool. Like John Grisham but in a cyberspace-y way.

Today was such an annoying day. I suppose it's since I havent really been through a full day of school for quite a while.

I couldn't wake up at all this morning. Sauceda was.... well I was 15 mins late and I felt like I lived through that darned class twice it was so long. I only knew one answer out of 15 on our math test today, although Gurjala wasn't there so I guess that was plesant. Then I was greeted by Mr Flores worksheet paquets, and our new Gov't books- and he was bearing the news that we were going to start in on new "post AP" studies. Joy. Actually it sounds interesting now, but at the time all i could think was that the test was just YESTERDAY and he already has a new plan. The writing assessment was utterly infuriating. I'm not even entirely sure why beyond the fact that everyone was tired and all braindead but also relieved that everything was over and they would much rather have melted into their chairs than write. Much less have to try doing it in silence. Lunch was hot and just a bunch of running around. Yearbook was split between rushing thru a french test (I did horribly) and then rushing back to eng to finish the assessment. After finishing I was irritated and then some boy ( who I think Ben and I gave a free cheesecake to once, that ungrateful little wretch) kept trying to talk to me. I don't really like that 6th period class. Actually I don't like quite a Lot of the underclassmen. They exasperate me. Then I get to Rush right back to french to see my horrid test score and get the vocabulary. To top everything off I hear from JJ that that cheesecake kid said that I said stuff about KBB. I said I hadn't the proportions she did, so now I wonder what he said. I don't like him. A bit annoying, and not in the more humerous, scurrying way of Mario. So This has been a laundry list but I don't rightly care. That's how I complain. It's all about the laundry list dearies. Eloquency is overrated.

My mother,A mother's day special look

Today we rented "Real Women Have Curves" , which is a pretty good movie although the end is unsatisfying, and I thought these were some quotes that really brought out the best of my mother: (or at least her more humerous temperments)

During the sex scene where the girl loses her virginity:
"Ah come on, it's not like that in a guys room and everything... It's a short burst of passion in the back of a car or something! Television is junk, movies just poison your mind... This is lame. Sophie[my 13 yr old sister] go to bed you don't need to see this!"

Where said girl tries to help[see, meddle] her sister and accompanies her to the main dress manufacturer:
"What!? She's bringing that little commie in there?"

Anyway the movie was nice. Cute and everything. But once, just once, I want to see a movie where the culture prevails and the son/daughter's american aspirations are crap and they discover how much more they love their own lifestyles. I mean really! Do they even think about making those movies or is that considered some kind of "Downer"?
The movie also reminded my mother of my granddad's situation when marrying my grandmother. These were my father's parents, but he doesn't remember anything and my mom is the family story keeper. Anyway my grandmother um... I forget her name... it's a very greek name... well her last name was Parakilis and she was full greek and everything but she decided to marry my granddad during WWII or just before it or something. He was a diplomat and um... well he also got medals as a fighter piolot at some point but I don't know which was when. Anyway she married him and eventually moved to NY with him and had my dad. Whilst they were living (a little later on) in Italy or Greece or something she tried to complain about him her mom basically told her, "You chose not to marry a Greek like I told you, now you try to whine? Put up and shut up."

Maybe that's part II of the Big Fat Greek Wedding movie...
And yeah.... That's my big, exciting mother's day medly, 13 mins after mother's day.

Eyes open- Dreams close. They dress- and leave themselves behind. Step out into the day- but try to escape the sun. Read books on being their own person- from inside one cubicle out of hundreds. Say ''I think''- yet spout only popular opinion. Take the same freeway witha thousand other cars- and call it a shortcut. Microwave dinner from a TV tray- in a dish it's a home cooked meal. They sit in bed and wonder why no one knows them for who they really are.
