Awww...Seemingly nonchalant conversation at theater concession counter:
J: I have all these fantasies about what would happen if the band got somewhere. It's hard not to entertain them, but I try not to.
H: Why?
J: I don't know. I just don't want to get my hopes up. You don't think it's stupid?
H: God, no! It's good to keep your hopes up. Gives you something to get out of bed in the morning. If people didn't have dreams like that, there wouldn't be much of a reason to try anything. Right?
J: Yeah, that's true.
H: You have to entertain those fantasies. If you didn't... I mean, what would be your reason for living?
J: You.
How do you act when you're in love? I don't mean "you" in the general "how am I supposed to act" way or the "how do people in general act" way. I mean You. Think about it. There are always little things that give you away. Habits you know you have. I was watching people lately. People I know "like" other people. And I was noticing the little signs everyone has. One girl who shall remain nameless, happened to be seated next to her interest and leaned towards him in laughter instead of her good friend seated on her other side.
You know that you've done similar things. Perhaps you convienently bump into them every so often in the well known accidently-on-purpose manner. Maybe you bring them random things you find and nonchalantly hand it to them saying "hey I saw this and .. you know whatever..."
It could be anything even if it just means you really listen and remember when they talk to you. I was going to make this a long post and stuff, but I feel weird talking to noone and going deeper into it when i don't know who really reads this. I mean, I'm not that great at making things not obvious so if I really started talking about people... well... a lot of people might stop talking to me.
But know that I'm watching. And watch yourself too. It's an interesting study.

I am hereby pining for a think slice of fresh bannana bread and a strong cup of hot tea on a cold day. Help!Sunday, January 19, 2003
Okae Guys, I'm going to signifigantly improve on that previous post:I woke up yesterday at 8 o'clock to help my family raise our funny homemade gigantic antenna for the HAM radio contest my dad was participating in. Then I picked the clothes off my floor and layed out a loose, clean outfit. After the subsequent two hour bath I got dressed and took my sister to her guitar lessons and took a one hour detour to Trader Joe's for sushi. Other stuff that doesn't matter also happened. Anyway I arrived at home at about 5pm. I discovered that my caravan was leaving at 630 so I didn't have a lot of time to get ready. I put on my shirt(not too formal, just whatever) and my pretty hematite-coloured skirt and looped my shoes around my wrist. My hair was brushed and then... a distress call from my sister. Her date arrived at 530 but she was still over getting her hair &tc done. I threw her clothes and such into a bag and slinked out the garage and we dressed her over there and sped back home(she had to finish in the car). After a call at 528 in which I said they there was < 30 mins to be ready I was left at 610pm with still hair and makeup to do. I wasn't even going to fix my hair really but after an earlier mini-lecture from a certain person I shall not name *cough< Justin >cough* about the neccesity of actually "trying" to do something with my hair I had my sister curl some random strands. Of course my hair being my hair, it was undone 730 or so.
I arrived at Lisa's at exactly 630. We didn't leave until about 710pm. the extra ten mins was my fault, because like an idiot I locked my keys in the car and we had to wait for my mother to come over with her set. I felt bad because I lost a passenger earlier due to the reported lack of time. The ride over was uneventful. I had (Gerald) Andy in my car so I didn't have to drive alone and I only had to drag race one other car although I cut off at least two other people. I was determined not to lose track of Lisa. I might have gotten lost-never-to-be-seen-again.
I think we arrived at the court at about 730 or 8. I'm not sure. we walked in and there was Maridelle! That < insert angrily frustrated descriptor word here > had led us on that she wasn't going to be able to come. Evenually we all accumulated and here is the summary with our caravan listed first:
Lisa- Sausage curls that w/enough hairspray to shield her from gunfire. An ivory coloured dress akin to a parlor drapery and a white lacy fringed shawl. I was extraordinarily jealous. She looked like either a)a porcelin doll b)Jane Bennet or c) The little girl from "Interview with the Vampire". RJ and I wanted to hang her, but for the record it was her idea.
Justin- Slate coloured tie and vest. The vest had to be slightly altered, but still looked really good. He gets special credits for having a really snazzy tie. It was a zipper tie! How cool is that? And he had black socks, which not everyone was able to find that night and also sported some shiny shoes. But really, the tie was neat.
RJ- Typical RJ. Grey suit pinstriped with lighter grey. Red shirt and red cloth tie. His hideous steve madden shoes, and a wild mass of hair. His signature? big old-man-pervert glasses. He was over-the-top creepy, in a good way.
Puja- Strapless dress, all black but for a red flower at the top and the red meshed petticoat peeking out the bottom of her flared skirt. If they had played swing music she could have taken over the dance floor.
Cassandra- Most awesome hair. It was a huge pile of curls. I loved it. It was piled on her head and tapered down to her neck in a tumbly but controlled casade. And it was shiny. I wish my hair was shiny.
Gurpreet- Big curls. Really big curls framing her face. She looked less like a doll and more like the cutest little girl since she always had the hugest smile on her face. She was in a long dress and after a little trouble, she was able to sport a big pretty corsage.
Javier- Black suit claiming that red and white were "his" colours and was about to fight Justin because of a corsage or something.
Ciana- Cascading hair. She looked better in loose hair than I did. Her corsage was on her strap and looked like a part of her dress. She was mostly in red and black.
Andy- Black suit, the coat of which he soon did away with in order to spend more time dancing with Molly unencumbered.
Moi- I was in a dark grey sort of shiny skirt that was a teeny bit too long and a nice-enough-but-not-formal white shirt with one of those droopy necklines. My shoes were really comfortable but still dressy. That was what I was most proud of. I never had to take then off like almost everyone else.
Ben- Snappy suit and pants with the shiny strip of black down the leg. The pants came with all sorts of extra features too. I won't even start about the socks, but he had shiny shoes.
Fatima- Long, creamy beige gown with a small train and a black shawl that did double duty as a blindfold. Oh course, Fatima being Fatima she wore shoes that rose to dangerous heights and recieved some criticism for tempting fate once again. She had her hair flowing down around large sparkling earrings and looked every bit a soap opera evening diva.
Maridelle- She shone with satisfaction when she saw our surprised faces at the door. Naturally she was in a glittery but not overdone gown. Ben served as an extra ornament as well when she so desired.
Natalie- Her sparkly dress was an amazing bright blue. Of course it almost fell off her a few times that evening but I'm sure it kept BJ on his toes, ne?
Jeremiah- Well I never saw his jacket, but he had a dark shirt and tie. He looked a little overwhelmed but used natalie as a brilliant anchor when he wasn't creating tropical drinks.
Alvin- Well I think the accessory that stood out most was his headpiece. Congratulations to the Winter Formal King!
Bob- Our Diva of the night. She was in a long glittering egyptian styled gown and the diva hair to match. She looked straight out of the 20s or a Dick Tracey movie. Yay Bob!
Katrina- A hope-of-springtime purple gown that everyone was quite jealous of. She certainly knows her colours.
Molly- Her dress was long and fun. It was colourful an ruffled and seemed like it was made to allow her to stay on the dance floor all night.
Andrea- Dark purply dress that I never saw in the light to properly judge the colour. Either a dark wine or burgandy. Whatever it was, it was my favourite colour there.
Carlos- Black suit and a cute boutaneer. We got some pix of him dancing with Katrina. Awww.....
Natasha- The HAT! I loved her hat. Natasha was all in black with a smooth black hat with a long wavy brim and looked at ease while at RJ's arm. Seeing them bounce around together was priceless.
Justin D- A blue shirt and an original boutineer were his signature, other than of course, Michelle. awwwww.. hehe.
Michelle- So tiny that I almost didn't see her with Justin!
Ms. Key- As always she was well dressed and had a mysterious stranger continuusly lurking behind her.
Mrs Browner- She had the best coat which I only saw as we were exiting. She also had a colourful but not gaudy dress that complemented her very nice hair.
I'll finish this later. I have sooooo much more to say but my mother is tired of seeing me at the computer.
Winter Formal was fun. It wasn't spectacular, it wasn't exciting, but I think it was very fun. We spent most of the time in the Gazebo overlooking the lake and duckies when we weren't sitting around moping. I learned one and a half new dances and was introduced to bellydancing and that Mexican shimmy thing that people do. Then I found out that if one keeps going down Colorado blvd for forever then you get on the 5 freeway and brush past Downtown LA. Fun stuff. I really want to learn to dance. Ballroom and swing. Cool. Yes. I want to, but we need more guys. There aren't enough! We must recruit.
